computing for hydrodynamic modelling.

FloodArea HPC

Floodwater simulations, particularly for high resolution terrain models, require maximum computer power. If this is not sufficiently available, a long time can be assumed for the simulations or the terrain size must be limited.

The performance of FloodArea was previously limited by the CPU power and the available working memory of the workstation used.

More powerful simulations by coupling your computer resources

With FloodArea HPC, restrictions with regard to the raster size are a thing of the past. Depending on the size of the area, as many additional computers (nodes) as you like can be added to a computer cluster. In this way, you increase the CPU power and the working memory in accordance with your requirements. Model calculations with DHM sizes of half a milliard raster cells and more are now possible easily; the operational calculation of dike breach scenarios becomes possible.

As well as significant improvements in the performance due to optimisation of the algorithms – up to 30% per CPU depending on the simulation – the capabilities of current dual core or multi core systems are now used thanks to multi-threading and result in a further, significant reduction of the computing time. For example, the operational calculation of dike breach scenarios is possible with this.

Support of other operating systems

As well as Windows, FloodArea HPC now also supports the SOLARIS and LINUX operating systems.

If you would not like to build up your own computer resources or perhaps need your time for the solution of other problems, then simply let your calculations be performed by us. We are happy to advise you how you achieve results quickly and efficiently. Ask for a quotation.
