Georisk project Indonesia

geomer has been supporting and advising the German Federal Agency for Geosciences and Raw Materials (BGR) since 2003 for the implementation of it technical collaboration projects in Indonesia.

The BGR is collaborating there on the one hand with the Indonesian partner Badan Geologi (National Geological Agency , Bandung, Westjava) and - since the Tsunami of December 2004 - also with the geological service of the Aceh province. The objectives of the project taking place in cooperation with the German Agency for Technical Collaboration are to strengthen the local government management so that natural hazards and risks are more strongly taken into account in the spatial planning.

We are supporting the BGR in doing so with our methods competence for the evaluation of geo-risks. The transfer of the solution strategies developed in our EU projects into practical implementations for the Indonesian partner authorities is the core of our work thereby which is being performed in close intercultural exchange with the partners.
